I was in the market for a Lancia Stratos but am based in New Zealand, which could not be further from one! The penalty of distance is a wonderful thing in times of global crisis but not when you want to spend good money on a great car. I had no hope of personally inspecting any car prior, so it was important to identify a sourcing partner that you can trust – Paul Baker ended up being that person. My top requirements from a trusted inspection and provenance point of view in relation to a Stratos are marque knowledge, deep provenance and alignment of expectations/wants and needs, probably in reverse order. Dealing with a person who gets your needs, quirks and lines in the sand is a breeze as nothing get lost in translation between the Queens (Kings) English and what we speak down here. Pricing discussions were frank but creative. Creative because when the UK pound fell through the floor Paul picked up on this and demonstrated that seller and buyer were all of a sudden coincident in their expectation. The car finally turned up after a 23,500 mile journey on a boat (no direct boats to NZ) and I was, and still am, awestruck at what a spectacular piece of art the Stratos is. I had never seen one. The condition of the car was better than anticipated and all foibles were also as-described with no surprises. I have since used Omologato Consultancy to produce a Produce a provenance document for this car (plus that of an S4 not presented by Omologato) and it's a wonderful asset to have and demonstrates a deep dive into the knowledge available. I highly recommend these services from Omologato Consultancy”

I contacted Paul Baker at Omologato Consultancy around two years ago, requesting he locate a very low mileage Lancia Delta HF Integrale Martini 6 for me and was advised it may take some time, but would start the search. He then alerted me to a very special unique car which was known to him, and was coming to auction. He advised it would probably need either a restoration or at least recommissioning but it was worth the cost and effort as it was so special. We spoke about the car, what may be needed and agreed a budget and time frame.
I purchased the car, and he arranged the transportation, and the car went to specialists in Italy to dismantle, restore completely which took 11 months which was in time and in budget. Paul project managed all aspects going to Italy four times to advise and accept advice from the experts on how the car could be completed. The result is amazing, and just what I asked for, a car which seems like it just came out of the factory. The best people were used and Paul advised on every step taking detailed photos and explained during the course. He is honest and trustworthy in all respects, is widely known in Italy and respected, and I would not hesitate to use him again and thoroughly recommend his work.

Paul recently managed the restoration of my Lancia Delta $4 over a period of 9 months. His knowledge of the marque is astonishing (he is also a former S4 owner) and his enthusiasm infectious. He made the connection to the top specialists for the car and he has managed the project with the utmost integrity; I got real value for money, exceptional work by the Baldi brothers, who are ex-Abarth mechanics, total honestly on the repairs, extensive photographic documentation and frequent on-site visits to monitor progress. I have restored several cars in my life and l've been blessed to work with many top professionals, however Paul's work really stood out as an example of how to create vew classic car enthusiasts by offering then a great experience. I would very much like to own another rare Lancia and Paul will certainly manage that restoration too.

I have known Paul Baker for 10 years. During that time I have found him to be honest, trustworthy and helpful in all aspects. In 2011, he mediated on my behalf with an Italian company. His fluency in technical terminology made the whole process painless. The work that was carried out was of the highest standard which resulted in a successful conclusion for both parties. I found the charges to be extremely acceptable too. Paul was a pleasure to deal with and, or course, I will be using him again in the near future!

Paul is consummate professional and straight shooter. His vastknowledge and access to Lancia experts made the acquisition andrestoration of my 037 a complete success. I would recommend hisservices over any other when looking to acquire any homologation Lancia.

Paul’s assistance is invaluable to anyone with an interest in buying, owning or running a competition or historic Lancia. His depth of knowledge and experience of these cars in unrivalled in the UK and his appreciation of and enthusiasm forthem is incredible. Critically, however, what he does not know or cannot do himself, he knows exactly who to speak to orwhere to go to get the information or support you really need, whether it is in the restoration or maintenance of thathistorically important factory rally car, or in establishing a detail of its history or provenance. Paul is very well hooked intothe market and can assist in sourcing a car (he knows where they are as I discovered) or in assisting with background checks.Dealing with Paul is also a great pleasure and he is both unpretentious and honest in all his dealings.

With Delta HF integrale TO49651R safely in its new home in Spain I would like to take a minuteto thank you for your help in sourcing this remarkable car. It was a pleasure working with you,and your assistance and language skills were critical in assuring a smooth transaction. I havesince used the car in a few rallies and could not be more happy with owning this unique pieceof history. Once again many thanks and let’s stay in touch!

Thanks to Paul my garage has a second Lancia homologation special. Shortly after my 037 was delivered I asked Paulto source a Stratos for me. The process was very much the same - we looked at a number of cars in Europe and Japan beforePaul arranged a private treaty transaction in Italy. I certainly would not have been able to source the car on my own, but evenmore importantly I would not have had the confidence that the car is as represented without Paul and his network of Lanciaand Stratos specialists. They did thorough inspections on the cars I considered, discussed in detail each car’s strengths, andshortcomings and carried out the necessary recommissioning of the one I eventually purchased. Could not be happier!

The understated way in which Paul conducts himself belies his attention to detail and the passion he has for the Lancia marque. Some years ago I had a number of problems with my Integrale Evoluzione II and living in France, I was having considerable difficultyin finding anyone with the knowledge required to put things right. I contacted Paul who listened patiently to the list of faults andwithin no time had arranged an appointment with a specialist in Turin. Given that he can count some of the key figures involved in thedevelopment of many Lancia competition cars as his personal friends, it comes as no surprise that he has the resources to tackle minorissues on relatively mundane road cars right through to rebuilding extremely rare ex-works examples to the correct specification. If you’re serious about acquiring or maintaining a Lancia, you need look no further than Omologato Consultancy.
